Saudi Arabia Launches Tabaud App to Alert People About Coronavirus Patients

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has launched an application called “Tabaud” to support government efforts in curbing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the Kingdom, Gulf News reported.

The “Tabaud” application is designed to notify those who are in contact with people infected with the COVID-19 virus.

The app sends camouflaged identifiers data to smart phone users using the same application, which were registered during the contact with infected people with coronavirus.

It is accompanied by the data of the infected people devices, in accordance with the policies that the two international companies (Google and Apple) devised, while maintaining the full privacy of users.

The app enables users to receive direct and proactive notifications in case of the detection of any registered infected person, for the purpose of requesting direct medical assistance from the Ministry of Health.

According to the health system and its regulations in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Health has approved health standards on which the “Tabaud” application has been developed.

The characteristics and functions of the app will be subject to any additional instructions issued by Saudi authorities, in order to achieve the health and safety goals envisaged in developing the application by involving individuals to control the pandemic outbreak and gradually ease the restrictions on social and other activities.

Saudi authorities also called on people to comply with health measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on Sunday, as its daily tally of cases rose above 4,000 for the first time.

The Saudi Arabian health ministry reported 4,233 new coronavirus cases to bring the total to 127,541, with 972 deaths, the highest among the six Gulf Arab states.

Saudi Arabia, which has a population of some 30 million, allowed employees to return to offices, commercial centres to reopen and prayers at mosques to resume in a three phase plan which began last month. A curfew is due to end by June 21.
