For the first time ever, the U.K. will soon publish its UFO sightings and investigations online for all to see.
Reports of these other-worldly sightings have been collected by a department in the U.K.’s Ministry of Defense (MoD), documented, and stored away with only a few specific sightings shared over the years from the National Archives.
These sightings were reported starting from the 1950s all the way until 2009 when the program ended.
The U.K.’s UFO program stopped in 2009 after the MoD decided these reports did not seem to disclose any potential threat.
Now, over a decade after its closure, the program’s reports will be publicly shared online.
Previously, these records were given to the National Archives, typically classified, and only certain ones were shared publicly after a specific amount of years.
Following a Freedom of Information Act, the British Royal Air Force’s (RAF) recorded reports will all go online. Nowadays, if a member of the public wishes to report a UFO sighting they must do so with the police force.
According to The Telegraph , an RAF spokesperson said that it had been assessed that it would be better to publish these records, rather than continue sending documents to the National Archives, and so they are looking to put them on to a dedicated gov.uk web page.
He continued “A clearance process for the documents is currently underway before publication, which is expected to take place “some time within the first quarter of 2020.”
There should be some interesting files to look over soon, and perhaps a British version of the X-Files series will be in store?
