Russia Accuses Washington of Putting Ceasefire at Risk by Launching Strikes at Syria’s Idlib

The Russian military stated that airstrikes in Syria’s Idlib de-escalation zone were carried out by the United States, causing casualties and endangering a ceasefire, Reuters reported on Sunday.

The United States hadn’t warned Russia nor Turkey about these strikes. 

This Saturday the U.S. Central Command said that part of the U.S. forces attacked an al Qaeda facility north of Idlib in Syria aiming the organization’s leadership.

It was confirmed that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the airstrikes hit bases belonging to jihadist fighters in Syria’s northwest. The UK-based monitor said that more than 40 militants were killed among which also some commanders.

Reuters stated that the airstrikes hit the region between Maarat Misrin and Kafer Haya in Idlib.

Russia’s ministry of defense stated that the Syrian government will carry out a unilateral ceasefire in the de-escalation zone.
