President Tweets Photo of Trump Tower in Greenland, Promises Not to Build It

President Donald Trump shared a photo-montage of a Trump Tower in Greenland, in a response to reporters that he is interested in purchasing the territory, The Hill reported.

Trump captioned the photo with, “I promise not to do this in Greenland!”

The tweet came as a result of recent reports that the Trump administration is showing interest in the idea of the United States purchasing the territory of Greenland, which is a territory autonomously owned by Denmark.

Trump acknowledged the possibility himself over the weekend.

“Strategically, it’s interesting, and we’d be interested, but we’ll talk to them a little bit. It’s not number one on the burner,” Trump told reporters from his Bedminster, N.J., golf club on Sunday while comparing it to a “large real estate deal.”

“And strategically for the United States, it would be nice. And we’re a big ally of Denmark, and we help Denmark, and we protect Denmark,” he said.

Officials from both Greenland and mainland Denmark categorically rejected the idea last week.

“We are open for business, but we’re not for sale,” said Ane Lone Bagger, Greenland’s foreign minister.

Earlier Monday, Trump’s son Eric Trump shared the same photo the President tweeted in an Instagram post.

“I don’t know about you guys but I love the concept of buying Greenland,” Eric Trump captioned the photo.
