President Trump’s youngest son, the 13-year-old Barron, received a horse as a gift from the Mongolian government and on Wednesday, Trump came with a statement in which he said that he gave the horse a symbolic name, Victory.
The horse was a gift from the Mongolian President Battluga as he arrived at the White House for a meeting with Trump to discuss trade and international relations as Mongolia has China and Russia as its neighbors, so trade between the countries has been pretty strong through the years. This was the first time a Mongolian president visited the White House in eight years.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham posted a photo of the horse on her Twitter account and said that Victoria will remain in Mongolia.
“The First Family is very grateful to Mongolia for this time-honored traditional gift. The horse has been named ‘Victory’ and will remain in Mongolia,’’ tweeted Grisham, as she posted a photo of the animal.
The animal is a symbol of the country dating back to the time of Genghis Khan. It has become a standard gift to offer foreign dignitaries. Former Vice President Joe Biden and former Defense secretaries Donald Rumsfeld and Chuck Hagel have gifted the small horses, according to The Hill.
Trump administration officials said that the United States wants to diversify Mongolia’s trade flows. The country’s main exports include cashmere, minerals and other rare earth materials.
