Trump: We ‘Will Take a Look’ into Peter Thiel’s Claims of Google Working with China

Donald Trump

After a controversial statement about tech-giant Google made by billionaire tech investor Peter Thiel saying that the internet giant is working with the Chinese government, President Trump wrote a tweet on Tuesday morning in which he said that his administration will take a look into Google.

“Billionaire Tech Investor Peter Thiel believes Google should be investigated for treason. He accuses Google of working with the Chinese government… A great and brilliant guy who knows this subject better than anyone! The Trump Administration will take a look!’’ Trump wrote in his tweet.

Officials from the White House have not made any comments for Trump’s tweet until now.

Peter Thiel, who is also a Facebook board member, said that the FBI and the CIA should investigate Google to see if the company has been collaborating with the Chinese government.

“Number one, how many foreign intelligence agencies have infiltrated your Manhattan Project for AI (Artificial intelligence)? Number two, does Google’s senior management consider itself to have been thoroughly infiltrated by Chinese intelligence? Number three, is it because they consider themselves to be so thoroughly infiltrated that they have engaged in the seemingly treasonous decision to work with the Chinese military and not with the US military,’’ said Thiel during the National Conservatism Conference in Washington according to Axios.

Joe Londsdale, the co-founder of Palantir, supported Thiel on his statement about Google, according to CBSN, as he said:

“Google is not a patriotic company. Everyone in Silicon Valley knows that the Chinese government is very involved. It is something we don’t talk about a lot. It was very courageous of Thiel to talk about it.’’

Google officials issued a statement to reply to Thiel’s comments saying: “As we have said before, we do not work with the Chinese military.’’
