Sunny Isles Beach police in Florida have launched an investigation after a shooting took place on Sunday close to a resort that is in ownership of President Donald Trump, The Hill reported, citing Miami Herald.
The shooting, which took place on a Sunday afternoon near the Trump International Beach Resort Miami, appears to have been related to an argument outside a rental car facility. Trump was not present at the resort when the shooting took place and it is not believed to be connected to politics, according to the Herald.
At least one person was killed, while multiple others were wounded, according to the Herald. Another person was shot around the same time nearby at the westbound entrance of the William Lehman Causeway.
Aventura police are collaborating with Miami-Dade and Sunny Isles police to determine if there is any connection between the two incidents, according to the Herald. Police have identified the person killed as Mohammad Jradi, 43, according to the newspaper.
“We are working with investigators to determine if they are related. Neither incident happened at any location that could indicate a hate crime or terrorist event,” Aventura police said in a statement.
