RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on seven polls, ranging from 39% (Reuters) to 48% (Rasmussen). Without these two extremes, it would still be 43%…. President Trump’s disapproval rating averages 53% today (same as yesterday), which is 10 points higher than his approval rating.

DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES

RON’S COMMENT: Similar to another poll we reported recently, most Democratic voters are wide open as to their party’s next presidential nominee. Only 12% say they have already decided who to vote for. Also, more than two out of five Democratic voters (41%) say they are still considering most or all of the candidates. Given fluidity of candidate attachment, this presidential primary field is ripe for shifts and surprises along the way––which offers a ray of hope to lesser known candidates.

RON’S COMMENT: 42% of men, 29% of women, 27% of Democrats, 31% of independents and 54% of Republicans say we’re safer now.

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS

RON’S COMMENT: 51% of Democrats, 32% of independents and 21% of Republicans favor giving an admissions advantage to women who are underrepresented in certain majors…. 55% of Democrats, 28% of independents and 17% of Republicans favor giving an admissions advantage to racial minorities who are underrepresented on campus…. 24% of Democrats, 24% of independents and 30% of Republicans favor giving an admissions advantage to children or grandchildren of alumni…. 14% of Democrats, 10% of independents and 16% of Republicans favor giving an admissions advantage to children of wealthy parents who will make an extremely large donation.

RON’S COMMENT: 42% of men, 39% of women, 43% of whites, 37% of blacks, 31% of Hispanics, 41% of Democrats, 37% of independents and 45% of Republicans say guilty parents should go to jail.

RON’S COMMENT: 54% of men, 53% of women, 57% of whites, 48% of blacks, 39% of Hispanics, 59% of Democrats, 47% of independents and 59% of Republicans say guilty college officials should go to jail.

RON’S COMMENT: Nearly half of Americans believe the students who benefitted from bribes knew about them.
