TRUMP JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 43%

RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on four polls, ranging from 38% (Reuters) to 49% (Rasmussen). Without these two extremes, it would be 42%…. President Trump’s disapproval rating averages 54% today, which is 11 points higher than his approval rating…. Note: These numbers still don’t give us a clear read on post-SOTU opinion since much of the survey interviewing was conducted before the speech.
TRUMP’S POLICIES

RON’S COMMENT: 36% of the electorate always or mostly support Trump’s policies, while 49% always or mostly oppose them…. Among Republicans, 22% always support Trump’s policies and another 51% support his policies most of the time. Only 8% oppose his policies all or most of the time…. The 10% who support Trump’s policies half the time gives us an interesting metric on the swing vote as it regards Trump.
WEARING BLACKFACE

RON’S COMMENT: 6% of Democrats, 16% of independents, 29% of Republicans, 19% of whites, 6% of blacks and 8% of Hispanics say it’s acceptable for a white person to wear blackface make-up…. In a related note, this poll also finds that 43% of voters nationwide think Gov. Ralph Northam (D) of Virginia should resign and 32% think he should not.

RON’S COMMENT: 37% of Democrats, 15% of independents and 11% of Republicans think Trump will leave office before the next presidential election.

RON’S COMMENT: A whopping 95% of the electorate say Social Security is important to them––that includes 97% of Democrats, 91% of independentsand 93% of Republicans.
FEDERAL ESTATE TAX

Oppose: 37%

RON’S COMMENT: 68% of Democrats favor raising the tax on billion dollar estates, while 30% of Republicans and 32% of independents do.
