The eldest son of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin could be sentenced to one year in custody following allegations by his former partner who claimed he assaulted her in the presence of their child. He was also reported to resist arrest when officers tried to detain him.
Alaska Veterans Court discharged Track Palin, who has served in Iraq for a year, following the order of District Attorney Rick Allen due to an incident, Associated Press reported.
The Veterans Court allows for a mental health treatment program instead of a custodial sentence if offenses are committed. Under a previous plea deal relating to a different case, Palin was placed under the supervision of the Veterans Court.
Department of Correction will be making a decision soon, after he will be serving a one-year sentence in jail, or halfway house amid new incidents of domestic assault.
Palin’s former partner Jordan Loewe accused him of repeatedly hitting as she was dropping off their two-year-old son Charlie at Palin’s house on Friday night. She added that Palin would not let her leave, forced her to hug him, and took her cell phone when she wanted to call the police.
The Iraq veteran is facing misdemeanor charges for assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
