President Donald Trump stated that he can see a “revolution” happening in California over sanctuary city laws, Politico reported.
He wrote in an early-morning tweet on Wednesday that the residents of California are tired of policies that are “breeding” crime and violence. The President also wrote that Democratic California Governor Jerry Brown is “backing out” of his intention to put national guard troops at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“There is a Revolution going on in California. Soooo many Sanctuary areas want OUT of this ridiculous, crime infested & breeding concept,” Trump said. “Jerry Brown is trying to back out of the National Guard at the Border, but the people of the State are not happy. Want Security & Safety NOW!”
The latest tweet is the second time that Trump has attacked the governor. Previously, the President accused Brown of “not looking for safety and security” after his decision to limit the powers of the Guard was announced.
“Looks like Jerry Brown and California are not looking for safety and security along their very porous Border,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “He cannot come to terms for the National Guard to patrol and protect the Border. The high crime rate will only get higher. Much wanted Wall in San Diego already started!”
Meanwhile, acting Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner Ronald Vitiello said to reporters earlier this week that Brown considers the immigration-related tasks that the Trump administration wanted National Guard members to be doing are “unsupportable.”
“We’ve got a signal from the governor that he’s not participating,” Vitiello told reporters Monday.
However, he added that “there will be other missions that we’re planning for the future state of this operation and so we’ll continue to see if those fit better.”
