President Trump Kicks Off Easter Weekend with Golf

President Donald Trump started Easter weekend at one of his properties where he can engage in his favorite hobby: golfing.

Trump arrived at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on Friday morning, according to Newsweek. At the time, there was no word on who his golf partners would be or plans for the day.

The President had arrived at Palm Beach International Airport Thursday night and met up with his family members at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The Trump family has an Easter tradition of staying at the estate.

It is no surprise that Trump has positioned himself to golf over Easter weekend—he has spent many holidays golfing and as of early this month, had spent 100 days of his time in office at his golf clubs, according to CNN’s tracking.

Trump’s trips to his courses come off as hypocritical, given he used to call out his predecessors for partaking in the sport.

“Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf,” Trump said in a tweet in 2014. “Worse than Carter.”

Unlike Obama, who would serve turkey at soup kitchens to the less fortunate, Trump went golfing last Thanksgiving. He also golfed at Trump International Golf Club three days after visiting people who survived the deadly school shooting nearby in Parkland, Florida.

Time spent on the greens contradicts promises Trump made on the campaign trail.

“I’m going to be working for you. I’m not going to have time to go play golf,” Trump said in August 2016.
