McCabe Receivеs Public Job Offers from Lawmakers

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s firing 2 days before his retirement has urged several Democrats to offer him a job in order to ensure he gets his full retirement benefits.

Previously, Sessions said that reports from both the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General and the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility concluded that McCabe had made “an unauthorized disclosure to the news media” and “lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.”

McCabe, who had been the deputy director of the FBI, took over the agency on an interim basis after President Donald Trump fired James Comey last year, but stepped down in January. He said that the idea that he was dishonest was false and “part of an effort to discredit me as a witness.” McCabe also added that he had the authority to disclose the information.

Representative Mark Pocan had offered McCabe to work on election security for him, while Representatives Jamie Raskin and Luis Gutiérrez have also extended job offers to McCabe.

“My offer of employment to Mr. McCabe is a legitimate offer to work on election security,” Pocan said in a statement. “Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of American democracy and both Republicans and Democrats should be concerned about election integrity.”

McCabe’s spokeswoman said that a job on the Hill is possible adding that they “are considering all options,” the Washington Post wrote.

Meanwhile, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated on Sunday that he believes the Senate Judiciary Committee should hold a hearing on the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

“I think we owe it to the average American to have a hearing in the Judiciary Committee where Attorney General [Jeff] Sessions comes forward with whatever documentation he has about the firing, and give Mr. McCabe the chance to defend himself,” Graham said.

“I believe when it comes to this issue we need as much transparency as possible to make sure it wasn’t politically motivated,” he added.
