Mueller Seeks to Question Trump and Bannon About Flynn and Comey Revelations

Special counsel Robert Mueller sent President Donald Trump’s lawyers a list of potential interview topics on which he wants to question him.

Mueller is seeking answers about President Trump’s interactions with former FBI Director James Comey who Trump fired as well as questions regarding Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Mueller apparently wants to learn more about the controversy regarding Trump asking Comey to drop the FBI’s investigation into Flynn, after Comey refused to do so Trump fired him. Meanwhile, President Trump dismissed the reports calling it a “Comey lie.”

CNN reported that the special counsel is also interested in Trump’s outreach to lawmakers about congressional investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Special counsel Mueller is conducting the leading criminal investigation regarding the reports of the possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.

According to The Hill, Trump said Wednesday he is willing to speak with Mueller as part of the investigation and willing to do so under oath. He told reporters that he expects the interview to occur in the next two to three weeks, but said his lawyers are still determining the specifics. Meanwhile, Mueller declined to comment to The Hill reporters.

CNN reported earlier Wednesday that Mueller intends to speak to former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon about Comey and Flynn as well. Mueller’s investigation has thus far led to two indictments and two guilty pleas.

Mueller has filed charges against four figures tied to President Trump in his probe. Former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former Trump campaign staffer George Papadopoulos have both pleaded guilty to charges from Mueller. Both men are cooperating with the special counsel’s office and could be joined by the former business associate of Paul Manafort, Richard Gates if he decides to strike a deal with the special counsel.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Richard Gates, charges included money laundering and tax fraud, among other charges mostly related to the pair’s work for a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine.
