Flynn Was Questioned by FBI Without Trump’s Knowledge

President Donald Trump’s former National Security adviser Michael Flynn met with FB investigators at the beginning of 2016 without the president’s knowledge.

Last January, Flynn reportedly had a meeting behind closed doors in his White House office. The FBI investigators had several questions regarding his correspondence with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

According to NBC, White House counsel Don McGahn learned of the meeting from former acting Attorney General Sally Yates who reportedly told McGahn that Flynn had lied to Vice President Mike Pence and other administration officials about his communications with Kislyak and other Kremlin officials.  McGahn immediately briefed the president, former chief strategist Stephen Bannon and former chief of staff Reince Priebus on his meeting with Yates.

President Trump fired Flynn on February 13, 2017, and then the following day asked the former FBI Director James Comey to let go of the investigation into Flynn. Comey was fired by Trump shortly after that for not complying with few of the president’s requests.

Flynn later pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI when he was questioned by special counsel Robert Mueller regarding his investigation into possible Russian interference in the 2016 election and ties between Moscow and Trump’s campaign officials.

Trump disregarded the claims that he required of Director Comey to close the investigation into Flynn, but in an interview with NBC News last May, Trump said that when he fired Comey he had Russia on his mind.

According to reports, Mueller’s team wants to interview Trump after they interview Stephen Bannon at the end of this month. Bannon has apparently agreed to cooperate only with Mueller. Previously, Yates fully cooperated with Mueller’s team.

The investigation had brought charges to several officials of Trump’s campaign and is revealing more and more ties between the officials and Russia.
