Mar-a-Lago will be President Donald Trump’s destination for the weekend. President Trump will be leaving Washington D.C. on Friday afternoon while the negotiations in Congress are becoming more and more dramatic on how the bill to fund the government will look like.
The White House released an itinerary Thursday night, saying that Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will leave for Palm Beach, Florida sometime after 4 p.m. on Friday.
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer commented on Trump’s departure criticizing the president for leaving while they are still trying to find a common ground on the bill where they need to know what Trump’s stance will be.
“Sen. McConnell says we’re waiting for the President to articulate what he’s for, so we can finalize a bipartisan deal. Well @realDonaldTrump is wheels up to Mar-a-Lago at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon,” Matt House said on Twitter just after the press release was issued.
Meanwhile, Congress is desperately trying to find a bipartisan solution to pass a funding bill for the government before funding runs out on Friday night.
The Republican-controlled House passed a funding bill Thursday night, which now heads to the Senate where Democrats have warned they have assembled the votes to defeat it, The Hill reports. The Senate adjourned late Thursday without voting on the bill, and the chamber will reconvene at 11 a.m. on Friday, giving lawmakers just 13 hours to hash out a deal.
According to Bloomberg, Trump is planning an event to mark one year since his inauguration. The event will be held at Mar-a-Lago and will be hosted by Republican National Committee Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel along with casino mogul Steve Wynn, and will benefit Trump’s presidential campaign and the RNC.
President Trump has so far spent 121 days of his presidency in his own properties, 94 of which he spent at his golf courses, NBC News informs.
