Jamie Dimon: ‘Democrats Don’t Have a Strong Presidential Candidate’

The CEO of JPMorgan, Jamie Dimon said in an interview on Friday that in his opinion, the Democratic Party has a big problem due to the fact that they still haven’t found a strong candidate that will go against Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

In an interview for Fox Business’ “Wall Street Week”, Dimon told Maria Bartiromo that “the thing about the Democrats is they will not have a chance, in my opinion. They don’t have a strong centrist, pro-business, pro-free enterprise person. The American public is not clamoring for more government. They were angry about the Great Recession, they blamed banks, they blamed Washington, but they’re also angry about the bureaucracy,” he added.

Democrats now have the best chances in the last years to try and take back both the House and the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, but on the matter of potential candidates for the 2020 presidential elections there is none that stands out.

The Hill reported about some names that are being speculated as possible contenders. Senator Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and the former Vice President Joe Biden were mentioned to have most chances.

Joe Biden said in 2015 that he does not plan to run for president, but in an interview in mid-2016 he commented that he would gladly take over the country since seeing what kind of mess Trump is making.

Another name that was recently mentioned as a positional candidate is Oprah Winfrey. Talks about Oprah running for president against Trump started after she gave an inspirational speech on the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. Oprah has not given any kind of comment on what her plans are.

Dimon, who is also the chairman of the Business Roundtable, commented in November that Trump will probably be a one-term president, later adding that he regrets giving those comments.
