Trump: People of Iran Finally Acting Against Brutal and Corrupt Iranian Regime

President Donald Trump said Iranians were finally taking action against the country’s brutal and corrupt rule and warned that the United States was watching.

“The people of Iran are finally acting against the brutal and corrupt Iranian regime. All of the money that President Obama so foolishly gave them went into terrorism and into their “pockets.” The people have little food, big inflation and no human rights. The U.S. is watching!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Washington has publicly supported the peaceful protesters who demonstrate against the Iranian government. Previously the President tweeted that it was time for change in Iran and added that the Iranians had been repressed for many years, The Hill reports.

Meanwhile, the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated that the enemies of Tehran were behind the protests, Reuters reported.

“In recent days, enemies of Iran used different tools including cash, weapons, politics and intelligence apparatus to create troubles for the Islamic Republic,” Ali Khamenei said, but did not clarify who are those enemies.

On his website he said that he would address the nation about the events when the time is right. The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, said that Britain, the United States and Saudi Arabia were behind the riots in Iran.

“Saudis will receive Iran’s unexpected response and they know how serious it can be,” Shamkhani was quoted as saying.

At the same time, Iranian media reported that nine more demonstrators were killed. Reuters reported that at least 14 persons have died.

The protests began last week over economic concerns, but have moved toward anti-government demonstrations. The semi-official ILNA news agency quoted Ali Asghar Naserbakht, the deputy governor of Tehran province, as saying that 450 people were arrested in the last three days.
