Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner Sued for Omissions on Financial Disclosures

President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband and fellow White House adviser, Jared Kushner, are sued due to alleged illegal omissions on their public financial disclosure forms, Politico reports.

Washington lawyer Jeffrey Lovitky filed a lawsuit against the spouses on Sunday, maintaining they didn’t identify the assets owned by 30 investment funds the two had stakes in. The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington and it claims Trump and Kushner were also supposed to declare the value of the two investment funds, as well as the income they derived from them, but the couple failed to do so.

The suit shows that in many instances Kushner’s report states that more detailed information cannot be provided due to a “pre-existing confidentiality agreement” which precludes disclosure.

“The [Ethics in Government Act] does not allow a reporting individual to refuse to disclose the underlying assets of an investment vehicle, on the basis that such disclosure would violate a pre-existing confidentiality agreement. Nor does the EIGA allow a reporting individual to refuse to disclose the amount of income derived from any underlying asset of an investment vehicle, on the basis that such disclosure would violate a pre-existing confidentiality agreement,” the lawsuit says.

A similar suit was filed by Lovitky against President Trump in March, alleging that a financial disclosure Trump filed during the 2016 campaign failed to make clear whether and to what degree he was personally liable for various debts shown on the form. The suit is still pending as the judge has not yet ruled on the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the case.

Kushner and Trump were both fined for late filings, while Kushner has also updated his financial disclosure form several times since first filing it in March.
