Trump Wants Justice Department and FBI to Investigate Democrats

President Donald Trump on Friday called the Justice Department to investigate his political opponents. Before leaving to Asia, Trump told the reporters that he is “not really involved with the Justice Department, but honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats.”

He wrote several tweets early Friday morning and suggested that the Department should investigate the Democrats’ activity during last year’s election campaign.

“Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn’t looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems. New Donna B book says she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus…People are angry. At some point the Justice Department, and the FBI, must do what is right and proper. The American public deserves it!” Trump tweeted.

His messages and demands come after the first charges in the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the American election and after one of Trump’s foreign policy advisers during the campaign pleaded guilty to lying the FBI.

According to The New York Times, it is not usual that the president badgers the Justice Department to investigate a political opponent, but Trump has constantly tried to refocus the attention from the Russia investigation.

Recent first-person book excerpt in Politico by Donna Brazile, who is a former interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, is additional ammunition for Trump. Brazile wrote a stinging account of Hillary campaign’s controlling grip of the party during the election.

This is not the first call for investigation of Clinton and her campaign that the president has made. He repeated those calls this week and called for death penalty for the suspect in the NYC attack, even though he acknowledged that presidents shouldn’t interfere in federal investigations.
