President Donald Trump criticized the “fake media” for ignoring the uranium deal with Russia which was signed under Obama and included bribery and money laundering.
“Uranium deal to Russia, with Clinton help and Obama Administration knowledge, is the biggest story that Fake Media doesn’t want to follow!” said the president’s tweet.
According to a report published on The Hill, Russia got control of a major part of the U.S. uranium supply by means of bribery. The deal was signed in 2010 while Barrack Obama was still president. The report claims that the FBI discovered that an American uranium tracking company was compromised with kickbacks by Russia, thus violating the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act, New York Post reports.
Millions of dollars were also sent to the Clinton Foundation by Russian nuclear officials while Hilary Clinton served on a panel that signed off the deals. At that time, former president Obama and the State Department were making attempts to improve relations with Russia, though they proved unsuccessful.
An investigation was carried out, but no charges were brought before completing the deals. The investigation was reopened last week by the Senate Judiciary Committee, bringing the issue in the spotlight again. Trump used the uranium deal on several occasions during his presidential campaign last year in order to present Hilary Clinton as corrupt. However, officials from the State Department said Clinton was not involved in the approval process as it did not reach to her level in the department.
