Trump Says `Spirit of People is Incredible` as Harvey Hits Texas

President Donald Trump continued his tweets about Tropical Storm Harvey Sunday night, noting the unprecedented floods and continuing rainfall for the battered Texas region, The Hill reports.

“Historic rainfall in Houston, and all over Texas. Floods are unprecedented, and more rain coming. Spirit of the people is incredible. Thanks!,” Trump tweeted.

Trump sent out a series of tweets about Harvey Sunday morning, giving updates on the federal response to the storm. He held a second Cabinet meeting on the response to the storm Sunday. Trump is set to visit Texas on Tuesday after the storm passes.

Federal and local officials declared a state of emergency ahead of the Tropical Storm Harvey, as Trump added another dozen counties to the list covered under his presidential disaster declaration earlier Sunday at the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Dallas is preparing to open its convention center as a shelter for refugees from the hurricane as search and rescue operations continue across the region, The Hill adds.
