Trump Wishes Americans Happy Fourth, Says Country Will Grow and Prosper

President Donald Trump on Tuesday wished Americans a happy Fourth of July.

“Getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July with a big crowd at the White House. Happy 4th to everyone. Our country will grow and prosper,” Trump tweeted in celebration of the historical day.

First daughter and special counselor Ivanka Trump also spoke out about her pride in Americans and her appreciation for the country.

“I am proud on so many levels, and really traveling this country has made me even more of a proud American today than at any other point in my life. You see the spirit, the tenacity. You see the sacrifice,” she said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday.

“You meet with soldiers and sailors and their families, and you think about all the things that they’re doing to ensure that the America we know remains true and can continue on,” Trump continued.

The fireworks celebration on the National Mall is a large-scale event that attracts people from across the country to see the sparks fly in the nation’s capitol.

Meanwhile, nearly 15,000 immigrants became naturalized citizens Tuesday as part of Fourth of July naturalization ceremonies across the country.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reported Tuesday that almost 15,000 new citizens celebrated at 65 events across the United States this year, posting photos of celebrations around the country on the agency’s Twitter account.

The number of new citizens on July 4th this year more than doubles the number who became naturalized citizens this same day last year. In 2016, USCIS reported that just 7,000 new citizens became naturalized on July 4 last year, although the number of celebrations was higher at 100.

At one USCIS ceremony in Vermont on Tuesday, the granddaughter of former President Calvin Coolidge delivered the national anthem before 20 new citizens were welcomed.
