Ex-CIA Chief Claims that Flynn Offered Him His Old Job

Former CIA Director James Woolsey said that the then-incoming national security advisor Michael Flynn offered him his old job, only six days after November’s US presidential election.

Woolsey told The Wall Street Journal that he turned down the job due to concerns about Flynn, adding that he did not believe former security advisor had the authority to offer him the post.

“I turned it down, partially because I didn’t want to work for him, partially because I didn’t think the structure was set up right,” Woolsey said, who at the time served as a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, but resigned from the transition team at the beginning of this year.

Woolsey, who worked under President Clinton, said he would have given the offer more consideration if it had been made directly by then President-elect Trump. Flynn’s lawyer though, claimed the story was false in an email to the Journal.

Flynn resigned from his national security adviser role earlier this year after he misled Vice President Pence about conversations with a Russian diplomat. Currently he is under investigation over allegations that he illegally withheld financial connections to the Kremlin and Turkey that had the potential to influence him while working in the White House.
