Washington Incites Kyiv to Escalate the War, Russia Accuses

Washington was accused on Friday by Russia of inciting Ukraine to escalate the war by condoning attacks on Crimea, with Moscow pointing out that the US was now directly involved in the war because crazy people had dreams of defeating Russia.

Seen by Western and Russian diplomats as the Ukraine war’s biggest potential flashpoint, Crimea includes the port of Sevastopol, where Russia’s Black Sea Fleet is based.

Responding to comments by US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, the spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova emphasized that the American warmongers have gone even further now, supplying huge quantities of weapons, providing Kyiv with intelligence and directly participating in the planning of Ukraine’s combat operations.

Nuland previously said that Washington supports Ukrainian attacks on military targets on the peninsula which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014, stressing that the United States belives that Crimea should be demilitarized at a minimum.

Speaking at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, Nuland noted that Ukraine is not going to be safe unless Crimea is at a minimum, demilitarized, no matter what the Ukrainians decide about the peninsula in terms of where they choose to fight,

Nuland pointed out that a host of military installations crucial for the conflict that Russia has been considered legitimate targets and that Washington supports Ukraine in hitting them despite the dangers of escalation in the Ukraine war.

Describing Nuland’s remarks as incitement for Kyiv’s regime to further escalate the war, Zakharova added that some US officials dream like “crazies” of defeating Russia.

She reiterated Moscow’s stand that the Russian nuclear umbrella covers all territories – including the areas of Ukraine under Russian control – considered by Moscow to be part of Russia.

While Washington denies it wants to destroy Russia with President Biden cautioning that a Russia-NATO conflict could trigger World War Three, he also pointed out that Vladimir Putin should not remain in power in the country.
