Biden Says he Is Worried Putin Does Not ‘Have a Way Out’ of Ukraine War

President Joe Biden said that he is worried that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not have a way out of the war in Ukraine

Biden said that Putin was a “very calculating man”. But that Putin “doesn’t have a way out right now,” and that he is trying to figure out what to do about this.

At a political fundraiser yesterday, Biden said that Putin has mistakenly believed that the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine would lead to dismantling NATO, and breaking apart the European Union.

But the war has almost done the opposite, with the U.S. and European countries backing Ukraine in the war. And now, more countries are considering joining NATO.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that Putin was “perverting” history in a bid to justify an unprovoked, unjustified war.

Psaki said yesterday that while Putin and Russia celebrated Victory Day, Russian military forces were committing war crimes and atrocities in Ukraine, and engaging in a brutal war that is causing suffering and needless destruction.

Congress meanwhile is preparing to add more financing into the conflict in order to assist Ukraine with both military and humanitarian aid.

Earlier yesterday, Biden signed into law a “lend-lease” program that dates back to World War II to help Ukraine. The program focuses on boosting the transfer of military equipment to Kyiv and countries within Eastern Europe in a quicker fashion.

The legislation is said to be more symbolic, but comes as Biden requested Congress to urgently approve $33 billion in order to prevent interruptions in military aid. The aid is meant to end in the next 10 days.

Biden said that Putin’s war was bringing “wanton destruction” to Europe once again. His bill received overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress. House speaker Nancy Pelosi said that the Senate will be able to clear the pending package quickly.
