In a letter posted on Twitter on Saturday, the Amazon Labor Union that workers just elected to represent them has asked that the corporation begin negotiations in early May and stop making changes to contract terms at their warehouse meanwhile, Reuters reports.

According to the letter, the Amazon Labor Union also urged that the company honor employees’ entitlement to union representation at disciplinary hearings. Amazon did not respond right away.

Amazon said it may submit challenges before the election result is official on Friday after 55 percent of the employees voted to make its facility in Staten Island, New York, Amazon’s first unionized worksite in the United States.
