According to the news outlet, the new military facility appeared on the island of Abd al-Kuri in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Satellite images show that the UAE military is building the infrastructure of the future airfield, including creating a concrete runway instead of dirt. According to preliminary information, a runway 30 meters wide is being constructed on the island. The length of the strip is 1.25 km.
According to Belqees-TV, the first business facilities and residential buildings began to appear on the island of Abd al-Kuri on December 6, 2021. The construction of infrastructure for the future airbase started on December 26.
Earlier, the UAE army completed the construction of a large military base on the island of Socotra, occupying Yemen’s territory.
