Sanders Blasts Manchin’s Decision to Vote Against Build Back Better Act

Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont blasted Senator Joe Manchin on Sunday after the West Virginia Democrat stated that he will vote against US President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Act, Fox News informed.

Sanders spoke to Jake Tapper from CNN on the “State of the Union” saying that if the Democratic Senator does not have the courage to support the $2 trillion social spendings package he should be let show the world what kind of man he is.

Sanders said that if the Senator votes NO, that should be a clear indicator that he does not have the courage to stand up to special groups of interest, in order to decrease the prescription drugs cost.

Sanders pointed out that interest groups are paying hundreds of millions of dollars in order to keep the highest prices for these prescription drugs.

He said that he would have hoped that there will be around 50 Democrats who will vote for the act.

Sanders then continued that the people from the US must understand that Presiden Biden is finally trying to address issues that Congress cannot. Tax breaks for rich people, not standing up to all those drug companies, are all factors that had increased the price for prescription drugs in the US.

A vote against the Build Back Better Act would seriously destroy the plans for Democrats to push forward the draft bill through reconciliation, which means that 50 votes are needed in order for the bill to be passed.

The Build Back Better Act was actually aimed to improve the social safety net, as well as the healthcare system, but it has also addressed tax and climate policies.
