Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang named the reasons for the deterioration of relations between Beijing and Washington.
In a videoconference hosted by the George W. Bush Foundation and the Jimmy Carter Center, he said that that inciting ideological confrontation leads to significant difficulties in mutual understanding.
The diplomat also added that the US misunderstands and misinterprets the rise of China, and therefore this defines the relationship as a confrontation.
“They define America’s attitude towards China as a confrontation between democracy and authoritarianism and incite ideological confrontation that has led to serious difficulties in relations between China and the US,” Qin Gang concluded.
Earlier, the editor-in-chief of the Global Times, Hu Xijin, said that the US is trying, by all means, to avoid military clashes with Russia and China, because it is afraid that during the conflict the parties will use nuclear weapons.
He noted that such statements appear due to the growing tension between China, Russia, and the United States. According to him, the US government also fears possible military clashes, as it will not be able to prevent them in a peaceful manner.
