California Supreme Court Rejects Motion for Cutting Newsom’s Emergency Powers

California Gov prposed new $2.7 billion disaster responsee package to fight coronavirus

The Supreme Court of California Wednesday rejected the consideration of cutting Governor Gavin Newsom’s emergency powers in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fox News informed.

This means that the ruling made by a lower court that said that Newsom has acted within his authority will remain in force.

The petition submitted by GOP Assemblymen Kevin Kiley and James Gallagher was unanimously rejected by the judges, without any precise explanation.

The Republicans requested the high court to annul a May decision from Sacramento’s 3rd District Court of Appeals who ruled that the Governor did not usurp the legislature’s power illegally to introduce some far-reaching policies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
