Senate Votes to Block Amendment for Crypto Compromise in the Infrastructure Legislation

Senate has blocked an amendment to the bipartisan infrastructure legislation set to limit the proposal to raise federal regulation of cryptocurrency, CNBC informed.

The amendment was brought up for unanimous consent by Republican Senator Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania.

Then Republican Senator Richard Shelby has tried to add defense funding to the amendment but, progressive Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont blocked his attempt.

The infrastructure legislation is set to be approved by the Senate on Tuesday.

The block of the crypto amendment arrived hours after the Department of Treasury stated that it would not oppose if a bipartisan agreement is reached aimed at limiting a proposal in the infrastructure plan that will raise federal regulation of cryptocurrency.
