EC Insist on Comparable Rules, Wants US to Lift Entry Ban on European Travelers

Noting that the epidemiological situation and the vaccine rollout in the US and EU bloc is very similar, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen underlined the block’s insisting on US to lift ban on travelers from Europe, DW reports.

Von der Leyen reminded that the EU has recommended its 27 member-countries to allow the entry of travelers from the US.

Despite the fact that Schengen zone countries were advised in June by the EC to allow nonessential travelling from several countries, including the United States, Biden administration has kept the restrictions fearing of the highly contagious delta variant’s spread.

She pointed that this problem should be solved as soon as possible and that the block insists comparable rules be applied to arrivals in both directions.
