Republican Representative Jim Banks on Sunday said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is to blame for the security breakdown during the Capitol insurgence on January 6, Fox News informed.
Banks added that Pelosi wants to hold on to her narrative and proceed with the appointment of anti-Trump Republican Representatives to the panel that is set to investigate the attack on the Capitol.
The lawmaker disclosed his opinions in an interview with “Fox News Sunday” while giving a response to being rejected by the House Speaker for a seat at the select committee and her decision to pick Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger from Illinois to serve instead of him.
In her role as a speaker, Pelosi has no direct oversight of the USCP (US Capitol Police), but she is in charge of appointing House sergeant at arms, a member of the Capitol Police Board that is overseeing this department.
The department is also under the oversight of panels from both Congressional houses.
