Judge Denies Gavin Newsom’s Request to be Listed as Democrat in Recall Election

California Gov prposed new $2.7 billion disaster responsee package to fight coronavirus

The request by Governor of California Gavin Newsom to be part of the Democratic list in the state’s recall election has been rejected by a judge in the Sacramento County Superior Court after Newsom’s office missed a deadline, Fox News informed.

Newsom did not manage to state his party preference when he submitted his official response to the recall.

However, he did ask Shirley Weber, the Secretary of State to fix that mistake, but she rejected the request, which was followed by Newsom’s lawsuit. Newsom appointed Weber to her post.

Newsom’s representatives claimed that the mistake was inadvertent but in good faith.

The decision made on Monday by Judge James P. Arguelles rejected the request of the Governor emphasizing that the circumstances were not a justification for missing the deadline.

Fox News tried to reach Newsom’s office for comment on the issue but did not get immediate response.
