Trump Holds Second Rally in Florida, Does Not Mention DeSantis

Former US President Donald Trump had a pretty successful second campaign-style rally since he left the White House, Fox News informed.

Speaking before an enthusiastic crowd at the Sarasota Fairgrounds in Florida, he slammed President Joe Biden, highlighting the crime and immigration issues.

Trump accused the current administration of letting the streets be overtaken by thugs and criminals, claiming that the border of the US is being removed before the eyes of the people.

One week after his Ohio rally, Trump on Saturday emphasized that the CRT (Critical Race Theory) is being forced to be taught to children and in the military.

He also addressed the battle for transgender rights, saying that it is unfair and crazy that men are allowed to play in women’s sports.

However, in his 90-minute speech, Trump did not even once mention his ally and a fellow Republican the Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.

Trump mentioned many of his political allies in Florida, but remained quiet about DeSantis, who was not part of his rally.

While Trump stayed in Sarasota, DeSantis went to Surfside, at the Atlantic coast of Florida, as he attended services for all the victims of the Surfside Condo collapse.

The office of the governor said that DeSantis wanted to be part of the Trump’s rally but due to the Surfside collapse and the hurricane that is headed towards Florida, he decided to skip it.

According to the press secretary of DeSantis, Christina Pushaw, the Governor had a conversation with Donald Trump and Trump told him that his duty is to be present at Surfside.

DeSantis who was elected as Florida governor in 2018 in a very narrow election and with the help of Donald Trump, has seen a great surge in popularity among conservatives due to his way of handling the Covid-19 pandemic in the state and his pushback against the Covid-19 restrictions.

This has raised speculations about a possible 2024 GOP presidential run by DeSantis.

The governor has also narrowly defeated Trump in a 2024 straw poll in a Colorado conservative event. This might put the two long-time allies on a collision course.
