Michael Waltz, a GOP Representative from Florida on Monday stood in defense of his new nickname for progressive Democratic group the Squad, which is the “Hamas Caucus,” Fox News informed.
The reaction arrives after the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that the nickname is very dangerous.
Waltz stated that Pelosi wants to look through and not do anything about the fact that progressive members of the Democratic Party are defending terrorism. His position is based on the comments of Rep. Ilhan Omar, who last week compared the United States and Israel to the Taliban and Hamas.
In his previous statement that day, Waltz argued that he cannot agree with the position of Pelosi that it is time to move on from this issue, because the rhetoric of this group has been constant.
Waltz also said that he and some other GOP members had decided to rename the Squad to “Hamas Caucus” in order to describe their consistent offensive rhetoric while ignoring what certain terrorist groups are currently doing.
