Public Schools and Universities in Oklahoma Will Not Teach Race, Gender-based Theory after Ban

Kevin Stitt, the Oklahoma Governor, signed a rather controversial draft bill which would restrict how gender-based and race content can be taught in universities and public schools, Fox News informed.

The 1775 bill, which was adopted by the state legislature with great support, bans teachings that one sex or race is superior to another, and that certain individual, by virtue of his or her sex and race, is racist, sexist or oppressive.

The bill has proven to be quite controversial. The supporters say that it can prevent some stereotypes based on race. Opponents, on the other hand, argue that it will eradicate all the critical discussions on racism.

Stitt, however, rejected all these arguments and said that the bill does not prohibit educators to review history from a critical perspective.

He became the first governor to support a bill that bans race and gender-based education and sign it into law.
