TRUMP JOB APPROVAL: AVERAGE 43%
Same as yesterday

RON’S COMMENT: Today’s average is based on six polls, ranging from 39% (Politico) to 51% (Rasmussen). Without these extremes it would still be 43%…. Trump’s disapproval rating averages 55% today, which is 12 points higher than his approval rating…. See the trend in Trump’s job approval average since the beginning of 2020 at approval trend.

(Rasmussen) Biden over Trump: +4 (48-44)
Average of last six polls: Biden +7.6
 
RON’S COMMENT: Our polling average continues to show Biden well ahead. The Rasmussen poll, which often shows Trump doing much better than other polls, finds a closer race. The previous Rasmussen poll had Biden ahead by 6 points.

RON’S COMMENT: 60% of Biden voters and 15% of Trump voters say the pandemic is going to get worse….  5% of Biden voters and 49% of Trump voters say the worst part of the pandemic is behind us.
 
Local Cases: Do you think the number of cases of COVID-19 in the community where you live is.. 
 
Increasing: 37%
Not changing: 23% 
Decreasing: 26%
 
RON’S COMMENT: 52% of Biden voters and 19% of Trump voters think the number of cases in their community is increasing…. 14% of Biden voters and 44% of Trump voters think the number of cases in their community is decreasing.
 
Rating Trump: Do you approve or disapprove of Donald Trump’s handling of COVID-19 outbreak? 
 
Approve: 41%
Disapprove: 58%
 
RON’S COMMENT: Interestingly, 10% of Trump’s voters disapprove of his handling of the pandemic…. Among independents, 33% approve and 55% disapprove.
 
Rating the federal government: How well do you think the federal government has handled COVID-19 so far? 
 
Excellent/Good: 25%
Fair/Poor: 71%
 
RON’S COMMENT: Voters are strongly dissatisfied with the federal government’s handling of the pandemic …. 8% of Biden voters and 51% of Trump voters rate the federal government’s handling of the pandemic positively (excellent or good).
 
Rating state governments: How well do you think your state government has handled COVID-19 so far? 
 
Excellent/Good: 41%
Fair/Poor: 56%
 
RON’S COMMENT: Voters give their state governments net negative ratings…. 42% of Biden voters and 44% of Trump voters rate their state government’s handling of the pandemic positively (excellent or good).
 
Rating local governments: How well do you think your local government has handled COVID-19 so far? 
 
Excellent/Good: 46%
Fair/Poor: 48%
 
RON’S COMMENT: Voters give their local government higher ratings than their state government or the federal government, but they are still net negative…. 42% of Biden voters and 44% of Trump voters rate their local government’s handling of the pandemic positively (excellent or good).
 
Masks: Would you support or oppose a policy that made it mandatory to wear masks in public places? 
 
Support: 71%
Oppose: 26%
 
RON’S COMMENT: 95% of Biden voters and 41% of Trump voters support a policy that makes it mandatory to wear masks in public places.
