American Jews Call Giuliani Anti-Semite over Soros Comments

A number of American-Jewish groups slammed Trump’s private attorney Rudy Giuliani and called him an “anti-Semite” after he said several times that he’s “more of a Jew” than George Soros, a Holocaust survivor, and a philanthropist.

According to Newsweek, a wide swath of mainly progressive Jewish-American organizations and activist leaders ridiculed the Republican former New York City mayor, who was raised Catholic by Italian-American parents, for denigrating the left-wing financier Soros as less Jewish than himself. During an interview with New York Magazine last week, Giuliani said his support for the state of Israel makes him “more of a Jew” than Soros, who managed to escape Holocaust death camps by posing as a Christian in Nazi-occupied Hungary during World War II. Progressive Jewish groups began sharing the “Rudy is an anti-Semite” hashtag on Twitter in solidarity with Soros and other ethnic Jews.

#RudyIsAnAntisemite pass it on,” remarked the American-Jewish progressive activist group IfNotNow on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

“Don’t take it from George Soros, who survived the Holocaust; take it from Rudy Giuliani, who not only wasn’t in the Holocaust but isn’t even Jewish,” replied political pundit Brian Tyler Cohen.

“Rudy Giuliani is not Jewish. But he is absolutely antisemitic. As a non-Jew, he doesn’t get to decide or determine anyone’s Jewishness. And he’s no friend of our Jewish community when he pushes antisemitic Soros conspiracy theories that put Jews in danger and get us killed,” replied Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, the political advocacy arm of the progressive U.S.-based organization.
