Trump Ditches Plan to Host G7 Summit at Florida Resort

President Donald Trump abandoned plans to host a G7 summit at his Trump National Doral resort in Miami. This happened, he said, after “the hostile media and their Democratic allies began to rage” because of this intention.

Trump emphasized that the resort is well located for the reception and that he was not going to derive “any benefit” from the event, CNN reported.

Now the U.S. administration will immediately begin to look for another place. In particular, the possibility of holding a summit at the President’s residence in Camp David (Maryland) will be considered.

The White House reported that the G7 summit in 2020 is scheduled for June 10-12.

Acting Chief of Staff of the White House Mick Mulvaney said Trump may invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the G7 summit. He noted that even if the Russian president accepts the invitation, the summit cannot be called the G8.
