Michael Moore Calls on Michelle Obama to Run Against Trump

Filmmaker Michael Moore urged former first lady Michelle Obama to challenge President Donald Trump in next year’s general election, saying in an interview that she was the only one who could “crush” Trump in 2020.

During the interview, Moore said the name of the only candidate who could defeat Trump in the election rhymed with Obama, adding, “In fact, it is Obama — Michelle Obama.”

“Everybody watching this right now knows she is a beloved American and she would go in there and she would beat him,” he continued, stressing that it was not enough to only have a Democratic candidate who will win more votes than Trump, as was the case with Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“The only way to remove Trump is to crush Trump. And that’s the question that has to be asked, who can crush Trump? Who’s the street fighter?” Moore said, according to The Hill.

The renowned filmmaker also named the four Democratic candidates who could beat the President in the 2020 presidential election, again reiterating that was not enough. He said Joe Biden, Senators Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders had good chances of defeating Trump, but Obama could “crush” him.

“She would beat him in the debates, he wouldn’t be able to bully her, he wouldn’t be able to nickname her,” he said. “She takes the stage and she’s so powerful and so good you just look at that and think of course she could win,” Moore added, referring to the former first lady’s book tour.

He then expressed confidence that if Obama was “asked to serve…she would serve.”

A YouGov poll released last month found that Michelle Obama was the most admired woman in the world, beating out even Oprah Winfrey and Queen Elizabeth II.
