Ocasio-Cortez Disputes Trump Impeachment Claim: ‘I’ll Call Your Bluff Any Day’

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called “bluff” on President Donald Trump on Sunday as she responded to his tweet in which he was citing the freshman Democrat in order to defend himself against impeachment, The Hill reported.

“Mr. President, you’re from Queens. You may fool the rest of the country, but I’ll call your bluff any day of the week,” the Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

“Opening an impeachment inquiry is exactly what we must do when the President obstructs justice, advises witnesses to ignore legal subpoenas and more,” she said.

According to Ocasio-Cortez, who spoke on ABC’s This Week, Democrats have a “very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump.” In the same interview, she renewed a push to begin impeachment hearings saying the pressure to impeach grows every day.

Trump selectively quoted Ocasio-Cortez’s interview, tweeting he “agrees” and his potential win is “the only reason they play the impeach card.”

“I agree, and that is the only reason they play the impeach card, which cannot be legally used!” the President said in response to Ocasio-Cortez asserting that Democrats need to elect a progressive as their presidential nominee in 2020, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

“I think that we have a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump if we do not have a presidential candidate that is fighting for true transformational change in the lives of working people in the United States,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

At least 61 Democrats are calling for impeachment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has consistently maintained that the House will not begin impeachment inquiries at this time.
