Fox News’s Chris Wallace Says Barr Sounded More Like a Counselor to Trump Rather than AG

Chris Wallace from Fox News attacked Attorney General William Barr, saying that he sounded like a counselor to President Donald Trump during his press conference on Thursday, before the release of the report made by special counsel Robert Mueller according to The Hill.

‘’The attorney general seemed almost to be acting as the counselor for the defense, the counselor for the president, rather than the attorney general, talking about his motives, his emotions,’’ Wallace told the anchors of “America’s Newsroom’’ Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith.

“Really, as I say, making a case for the president,’’ he added.

On Thursday morning, Attorney General Barr held a press conference in which he stood behind President Trump, defending him by saying that his preview on the report’s findings made him believe that Trump had not obstructed justice. He also called the report a vindication of Trump over the allegations of collusion with Russian officials.

On this he said:

‘’We now know the Russian operatives who perpetrated these schemes dis not have the cooperation of Trump or his campaign or knowing assistance of any other American for that matter.”

He added that it is very important to consider the context for the President’s actions.

‘’President Trump faced an unprecedented situation. As he entered into the office and sought to perform his responsibilities as president, federal agents and prosecutors were scrutinizing his conduct before and after taking office and the conduct of some of his associates. At the same time, there was relentless speculation in the news media about the president’s personal culpability. Yet, as he said from the beginning, there was, in fact, no collusion.’’

The report from the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller will be released Thursday morning.
