Axl Rose Blasts Trump for Threatening to Withdraw Funding for California Wildfires

Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose blasted President Donald Trump for blaming the wildfires in California on mismanagement by state officials and threatening to withdraw federal dollars, The Hill reported.

“It’s a lack of federal funding that’s at the ‘root’ of the purported forest mismanagement,” Rose wrote on Twitter.

“Only a demented n’ truly pathetic individual would twist that around n’ use a tragedy to once again misrepresent facts for attempted public/political gain at other’s expense,” he continued.

Trump blamed “massive, deadly and costly forest fires” in California on “gross mismanagement” of the state’s forests and threatened on Twitter to withdraw federal funding.

“There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor,” Trump said on Twitter early Saturday morning. “Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!”

His first comments about the massive wildfires in the state came shortly after he declared a state of emergency for California, which allows federal assistance to supplement local response as blazes continue to scorch the state.

State officials have said at least nine people have died in a deadly Northern California blaze, which has been dubbed the Camp Fire.

Trump later took to Twitter on Saturday evening to offer his support for “those fighting the fires” in California, in addition to the families who evacuated their homes this week due to the blaze and those who lost loved ones in the fires.

“More than 4,000 are fighting the Camp and Woolsey Fires in California that have burned over 170,000 acres,” Trump tweeted. “Our hearts are with those fighting the fires, the 52,000 who have evacuated, and the families of the 11 who have died. The destruction is catastrophic. God Bless them all.”
