Trey Gowdy: Mainstream Media Has No Idea How Trump Won

On Tuesday night South Carolina Republican Senator Trey Gowdy on Fox News show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” said that the reason for the media’s big interest into the Mueller’s investigation of the Russian meddling in the 2016 election is their lack of understanding of how President Donald Trump managed to get enough votes to win.

“The mainstream media could give a damn less about what happened in Benghazi. They’re really, really interested in what happened in Russia in part because they don’t know anybody who voted for Donald Trump,” Gowdy commented on the show.

“So they’re still trying to figure out how this election occurred and how his election occurred,” he added.

Trey Gowdy is the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The Committee beside the Russian interference investigation, last year announced that it will start an investigation into a suspicious Obama-era uranium deal.

According to The Hill Gowdy previously chaired the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which investigated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s handling of a 2012 attack on U.S. government facilities in Libya that left four people dead.

This investigation influenced Hillary’s popularity which was one of the things that contributed to her losing the 2016 presidential election against Trump.

Gowdy also is part of the House Intelligence Committee (HIC) which is one of the several congressional committees that are having separate ongoing investigations for the Russian interference in the 2016 election.

One of the separate investigations is the one of special counsel Robert Mueller, his investigation has resulted in two guilty pleas and two indictments for now.

Steve Bannon one of the chief Trump aids during the campaign and the presidential transition is the next to be questioned by Mueller’s team, after which President Trump is expected to answer any questions related to the investigation.

Meanwhile, President Trump claims that there is no collusion, and is calling Mueller’s probe a “witch hunt.”
