Arpaio Says Obama’s Birth Certificate Is ‘Forgery’

This Wednesday there were some false claims made against former President Barack Obama implying that the former president’s birth certificate is a “forgery.” The claims were made by the former Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio who also said that Congress should pass a law that would require presidents’ birth certificates to be examined more thoroughly.

“I’m going to tell you again that that document is a forgery document. And nobody will touch it,” Arpaio told the host of WABC Rita Cosby.

“I wanted to get it to Congress so they can pass some type of law – regulation – that when somebody runs for president you ought to check their background, so this won’t happen again. But I can’t get anybody – anybody – to even look at it,” he continued.

The Hill reports that on Tuesday it was announced by Sheriff Arpaio that he will seek the Republican nomination in Arizona’s 2018 Senate race. He told Cosby on Wednesday that he would raise the issue of Obama’s birth certificate in Congress.

Being one of the most controversial political figures, Arpaio was especially criticized on his more rigorous views on issues like immigration or too much force used in law enforcement. He lost his re-election bid back in 2016, which lowered his influence, but he is still respected among his statesmen as a Maricopa County Sheriff where he was in service for almost 25 years.

Last year, the former sheriff was pardoned by President Trump after he was convicted of ignoring a federal court’s order saying that he needs to stop using racial profiling in law enforcement.

However, it is not the first time that the conspiracy about Obama not being born in the U.S. and his certificate being fraud has appeared in the media. In the past, the issue was put in the spotlight and an investigation was opened into it, proving in the end that former President Obama was indeed born in the U.S.
