Speier Criticizes Trump for Repeated Attack on ‘Institutions that Keep Us Free’

President Donald Trump was seriously criticized by Democratic Representative Jackie Speier due to Trump’s continuous attacks of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe as well other FBI agents who are part of the Mueller investigation.

Speier had an interview on CNN this Tuesday where she said that Trump was “constantly putting down the very institutions that keep us free.”

“I think the president has always used the same tactic. When he is being attacked, when he is being scrutinized, he takes aim at someone else and that’s what he’s doing right here. So you got him attacking the judiciary, you have him attacking the CIA, you have him attacking the Department of Justice, the FBI. I mean this is the conduct of someone who could become a tyrant if we don’t step in and speak out against him,” Speier commented.

“Let’s be really clear: This president does not respect the rule of law, nor does he respect the various agencies…that are charged with the responsibility of protecting us,” she continued.

Speier further maintained that there was a pattern discernible in the president’s conduct of the past year, that is to condemn and attack “the very institutions that keep us free,” she ended her interview.

President Trump was popular in the news this weekend for his attack on McCabe for the way he is dealing with the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails, tweeting:

“How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?”

Representative Jackie Speier was not the only Democrat criticizing Trump for his attacks on McCabe. Democratic Representative Ted Lieu commented that the president’s tweets were a gift to special counsel Robert Mueller’s office.
