Trump: Media Should Compete for ‘Fake News Trophy’

President Donald Trump once again attacked news media and said that media should compete for fake news trophy.

“We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me). They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!” ” Trump wrote on Twitter.

He also mocked NBC’s “Morning Joe” because it aired a pre-taped segment the day after Thanksgiving.

“The good news is that their ratings are terrible, nobody cares!” the president wrote one day after he returned from South Florida, where he spent Thanksgiving.

Trump took repeated jabs at the media on Twitter over the weekend. He attacked CNN International on Twitter.

“@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Several minutes later, CNN’s public relations department wrote a reply.

“It’s not CNN’s job to represent the U.S. to the world. That’s yours. Our job is to report the news,” they replied.

The latest shots came just hours before his meeting with members of the Senate Finance Committee to discuss their push to pass a major tax bill.Senators hope to approve the legislation in the next few days in an effort to send a finished product to Trump’s desk before Christmas, but the Republican leaders need 50 votes to pass the measure and they do not have them yet. According to The Hill, Congress must also race to pass a funding bill before Dec. 8 in order to avoid a government shutdown.
