Tillerson Still Doesn’t Deny He Called Trump a Moron

Jake Tapper, the host of CNN’s “State of Union” asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson if he called President Donald Trump a “moron.” However, Tillerson refused to reply to the question.

“As I indicated earlier when I was asked about that, I’m not going to deal with that kind of petty stuff,” Tillerson said. But Tapper didn’t stop and continued asking him. “When you don’t answer the question, it makes people think you probably did say it. Either way, whatever happened, it’s serious. So, can yo please clear it up?”

Even though the host was quite insistent, Tillerson refused to confirm or deny the allegations.

“These are the games of Washington. These are the destructive games of this town. They’re not helpful to anyone. And so my position on it is, I’m not playing. I’m not playing. You want to make a game out of it, I’m not playing,” said the secretary. The host didn’t give up and made another try.

“I’m trying to seek clarity because saying that if I said that my boss was a moron, that would be a serious issue. It wouldn’t be. My boss doesn’t control nukes. I’m willing to move on, but I want to be clear, you still haven’t denied you called him a moron. And, you know, a lot of people are going to watch this and think, he probably said it,” Tapper said.

Tillerson ended the conversation by saying that he’s not going to dignify the question with an answer. He said that he was surprised that Tapper spent so much time on that when there were many important issues around the world to deal with. Earlier this month, Tillerson addressed a report that said other officials had urged him not to quit during the summer, The Hill reports. Tillerson said he never thought of resigning, but refused to say that he called the president a moron, even though there were reports that he did say that.
